Everyday Habits That Damage Your Teeth

3.-Enamel-Damage-to-Your-Teeth-300x300Are you damaging your teeth without even realizing it? Some every day habits that people do subconsciously are causing more harm to their teeth than they may think. Here are a few dental no-nos to help keep your smile happy and healthy!

  1. Avoid dark drinks like soda and coffee as much as you can. If you are an avid coffee drinker, the best thing to do is at least rinse your mouth with some water after you’re done.
  2. Avoid high acidic foods such as lemons. High acidic levels can remove the enamel on your teeth, exposing the rough surface below.
  3. Regular brushing is a must and we highly encourage it, however, be cautious of the force you use when brushing. If you are brushing too hard you could wear down enamel, irritate your gums, make teeth sensitive to cold and even cause cavities.
  4. A lot of people bite down hard or clench their jaws when they are worried or stressed. This habit might cause fractures or other damage on your teeth. If you notice that you grind your teeth, let us know and we can fabricate a custom appliance for you.
